Each year, on the anniversary of her diagnosis, Donna deep cleans her home.
Like many, Donna Stumpf’s cancer experience began long before she was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. When Donna first felt the lump in her breast, she was uninsured and worried about how she would pay for treatment. By the time Donna was insured, cancer had already spread to her bones.
In 2015, Donna found The Pink Ribbon Place and soon after, became a regular member of the Metastatic Support Group and Therapy through Art classes.
“I had no idea the help The Pink Ribbon Place would bring to my life,” recalled Donna. “We are all in the same boat - fighting together.”
“This is a war, and every treatment is a battle,” she said. “Don’t focus on winning the war, but defeating and standing strong in each battle.”
Last November, Donna deep cleaned her home for the fifth time - marking her sixth year with a Stage IV breast cancer diagnosis and her fifth year of continuing to bring laughter and joy to all those around her.
The Pink Ribbon Place was established in 2009 to bridge the gap of support for those who have been impacted by breast cancer through direct services such as diagnostic services, wigs, hats, bras, scarves, support groups for the English and Spanish speaking populations, and survivor mentorship.
While we have maintained our focus on breast cancer over the years, our center has also continued to evolve by expanding our services to women and their families who have been impacted by cancer - regardless of area of diagnosis.
Today, we continue to offer no-cost services in both English and Spanish.
To improve the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by cancer.
Our resource center was designed to be warm and inviting for those who seek services from us. We provide services and products at absolutely no cost including:
BEANIES • WIGS • CANCER CARE & WELLNESS EDUCATION • BREAST PROSTHESIS • COUNSELING • EXERCISE • SUPPORT
A cancer diagnosis does not stop, even during a pandemic. In response to the growing needs of our community, we transitioned many of our regularly offered, in-person services to virtual platforms to ensure that clients can receive the support they need from the comfort and safety of their own homes, including our cancer care and wellness presentations, exercise programs, counseling services, and support groups. View our schedule here.
We also began shipping support products such as headwear, hand sanitizer, soft-fill prosthesis, grocery assistance, and masks directly to our clients' homes.
Help us honor, celebrate and support those impacted by breast cancer in our community during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by participating in one of our contests!
🎀. Art on Parade Create an art piece inspired by breast cancer awareness in any medium.
🎀 Paint the Town Pink Decorate the interior or exterior of your home or business in pink.
DECIDE how you will support! Will you decorate your home? Create a work of art inspired by breast cancer awareness? Creativity is welcome!
JOIN US on Saturday, October 16 at Ryan Bonaminio Park (5000 Tequesquite Ave) as we honor and celebrate survivorship!
TEAM CAPTAINS
When you participate, it is not just about raising awareness in our community about breast cancer - it’s actually much more than that... by rallying a team, you are helping a mother, daughter, sister, or even neighbor receive vital support through the programs of The Pink Ribbon Place, a program of Riverside Community Health Foundation. So we want to help you be an awesome team captain! This guide was designed to help you make your team spectacular by recruiting more team members, raising more money, and having a lot of fun along the way!
Pink on Parade operates on the “the more, the merrier” principle, which means that we encourage you to invite as many people as possible to join in on the fun! Bigger teams are not just more fun, but they also help you fundraise more effectively. When you have more team members, you can set your team fundraising goals higher, because everyone is working towards the same goal.
Throughout the course of October, we will be running virtual contests that you can participate in from the comfort of your own home! Encourage your team to engage by developing a story, or by participating in one or all of the contest activities!
We want to encourage you to build amazing and support teams, so we are giving away a few goodies in the following categories:
This prize goes to the team that collectively raises the most dollars for the event! Remember that as a Team Captain, your role is to rally up supporters and encourage them to fundraise on their own. All the dollars that they raise goes towards your Team total! That means if you have 10 team members and each person asks for $10 from 10 people, then you already have a team total of $1000!
This prize will be awarded to the team with the most number of entries into the contests! So get your teammates excited to participate in at least one or all of the contests!
Roll up those sleeves, pull out those paintbrushes, and be creative with your team! Put your heads together and help tell the story of why breast cancer awareness is important to you and your team!
